IED CPD Online: R&D led growth

Important - this webinar will run over 2 separate sessions, each running for 90 minutes on the 5th and 6th December 2023.

This CPD module is intended to allow delegates to explore the key factors when considering R&D led growth, including:

  • The importance of development and productivity in the economy
  • Government levers for research & development (patent box, tax credits)
  • Wider government initiatives – Innovation Zones and the new emphasis on technology
  • The wider public sector landscape including Catapults
  • HEI and role – different initiatives for working with business
  • Incubators / accelerators – critical success factors
  • Private sector funding and the role of VC in different guises

The course is run in a participative manner and is aimed at creating a practical experience with applicability to all economic development practitioners both from the course learning, examples of good and poor practice and the interaction with other delegates.

This course will be led by Nigel Wilcock, Executive Director of the IED.

Attendance is open to both IED members and non IED members.

For those of you completing the Advanced Certificate in Economic Development, this is one of the modules in that programme. When you book your ticket, please choose "Advanced Certificate in Economic Development rate".

The webinar sessions will be on:

  • 5th December 2.00-3.30pm
  • 6th December 2.00-3.30pm

There is an expectation that delegates will attend both webinars. If you are unable to attend both, you can request a recording of the missed webinar, but there will be no discount should you not be able to attend both.

Please note that the webinars will be conducted via Zoom or MS Teams and you will be able to ask live questions via the chat during the course of the sessions.

The inclusive price for this session 2 x 90 minute webinars) is £50 for IED members and £100 for non IED members. No VAT is chargeable. Pay by invoice is possible.

I f you are undertaking this module as( part of the Advanced Certificate in Economic Development, there is no fee to pay as it has been organised separately - please choose "Advanced Certificate in Economic Development rate" when booking on. Please do not choose this rate if you are not undertaking this module as part of the Advanced Certificate - all bookings are checked by the IED.

Remember, the IED requires ALL associate and full members to log at least 40 hours of CPD over a two year period. Half of all CPD logged – 20 hours – needs to consist of formal CPD activity.
