Letter to the Prime Minister calls for growth to move from ambition to action

Last week, we wrote to the Prime Minister with a clear message: good growth must now move from ambition to action. Our letter sets out six asks drawn from the Rewiring the State white paper, aimed at helping places turn national ambitions into real change for businesses and communities.

One of our central asks is for economic development to become a statutory function of local authorities. The professionals who understand their local economies need the recognition, resources and long-term certainty to do their jobs properly. Alongside stronger local decision-making and investment, this would give places the foundations they need to deliver lasting growth.
