Director, iED
Service Director – Economic Growth and Skills, Wakefield Council
Clare has over 18 years of Local Government experience and has been Service Director for Economic Growth and Skills at Wakefield Council since 2018.
Clare’s passion is the regeneration of her home City and its surrounding towns. Regeneration through skills, learning, employment progression, housing growth and quality, public realm transformation and enabling the growth of good businesses that offer good jobs and tangibly improve people’s lives.
Clare is actively leading the organisations’ transformational economic growth and regeneration projects including the effective delivery of the Strategic Housing and Regeneration Capital Programme with a value of over £100 million.
She has the strategic lead for business and employment support, city and town centre management, markets, skills, adult education and regeneration. All this work has improving peoples lived experiences at its core through delivering a stronger economy, better jobs and a healthy planet.
She is also a member of the Solace Group Board, a Governor on the Board of Wakefield’s Adult and Community Education Service and a Board Member of Bridge Homes Yorkshire.
