Our consultancy work generally falls into two linked threads: 1) working with distressed retail businesses and, 2) working with distressed town centres My own experience includes fifty years of retail management across many sectors and scales of business. It also includes forty years of working with town centre management and similar schemes. I have been actively engaged in the ongoing, and long-lived, debate on the British High Street. I do not subscribe to many of the oft-repeated ideas about identified causes for the decline or of their putative cures. As both a retailer and a geographer my ideas about vibrant and vital centres are generally broader in scope than many others and they are always evidence driven.
