Our next webinar will be held on the 9th June at 2pm: Economic renewal: How can we support devastated economies in their post-Coronavirus recovery?
Whilst local authorities continue to respond to the immediate challenges presented by Covid-19, attention is beginning to turn to the implications for economic development and regeneration practitioners in supporting the ‘new normal’.
Questions around the transition from existing business support measures to strategically-planned responses for local recovery have been posed, in the context of how economies can be lifted out of the effects of the pandemic. Nowhere is the damage being felt more than in towns. The crisis is likely to bring the economic debate about towns even more into focus and the fact that many town centre businesses are now probably terminally damaged means that genuine change will be essential. Tweaks to business rates, car park charges and a farmers’ market once a month is not about to revitalise locations in deep decline – a large number of these need a rethink of their function. What is central government asking in terms of economic recovery and renewal, and what approaches should economic development and regeneration practitioners take in response to support towns?
In this webinar, public and private sector members will come together to discuss the challenges around strategy and implementation, all within the context of the significant recession ahead. This webinar is essential for anyone working in economic development and regeneration, public, private and third sector. Delegates on the webinar will have the opportunity to pose questions to the panel, and share best practice themselves, in an interactive one-hour session.
