Head of Commercial and Economic Development | Maidstone Borough Council
Dawn Hudd is currently Head of Commercial and Economic Development at Maidstone Borough Council. Dawn Joined Maidstone Borough Council, Kent in December 2013 to head up a new department covering Economic Development, Regeneration, Cultural Services and Leisure Services with a corporate role to drive Commercialisation across the council. She has a team of around 60 staff and sits on the Council’s Senior Leadership Team.
Prior to this she was Deputy Head of Culture and Enterprise at Canterbury City Council where she worked for eight years.
Dawn’s move to the public sector followed a varied career in the private sector which encompassed roles as a Practice Manager for a large Building Surveying and Architectural Practice is southeast London, part owning and running a successful vending sales company and even owning and running a private gym.
Dawn has been a member of the IED since 2005 and has been on the Board since 2007. Having served as Vice Chair since 2010 Dawn was elected Chair in November 2014. Dawn stood down as Chair at the end of her 2 year term in November 2016 but remains on the board.
