Why did you sign up for the Certificate/Advanced Certificate?
Mark: “I arranged for my team to receive the training to support development of their awareness of the broad range of topics that economic development can encompass.”
Colm: “My team and I signed up for the training as a means of upskilling, and developing our knowledge of the wide range of economic development topics.”
What have been key benefits/impacts of the programme on you and your organisation, or what do you expect them to be in the future?
Mark: “We have been writing our economic development strategy and the programme has helped inform this. Some of the webinars have acted as refreshers and added to existing knowledge, others have covered something entirely new to members of the team.”
Was there a particular stand-out, highlight, or value add from the Certificate/Advanced Certificate?
Colm: “The training served as a ‘one-stop shop’, where all elements of economic development were covered, rather than having to approach several individual specialist training providers. Overall, it helped inform the development of our refreshed economic development strategy.”
What gap does the programme fill from a CPD perspective?
Mark: “The comprehensive offer from the IED has been a really good fit and I am not aware of something comparable that brings ‘together’ the same range. It is quite a commitment of time, but I would recommend the programme to other professionals.”
How does it feel to have completed the Advanced Certificate, and would you recommend it to others?
Colm: “I would also recommend the training to other economic development professionals, for the reasons mentioned above. In particular, I would encourage anyone starting out on their economic development career journey to undertake the initial Certificate, as it gives you the necessary tools and base knowledge to build on.”
