Policy

The IED responds to relevant government consultations and proactively formulates policy statements on pertinent issues affecting the wide range of economic development activity.

Our latest initiative is the Professional Associations Commission on Underperforming Towns & Cities which is a partnership with the Association of Town and City Management (ATCM), the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICs). The report is now out and can be accessed here.

Within the 'Member Only' area of the website there is a document archive which covers issues over the 30+ years of the Institute. This Policy area of our website is new and covers more recent issues.

Under the subject headings we have included our responses to policy consultations and where possible the final reports or polcy decisions.

To the best of our endeavours we have only included those items that are in the public domain.

If you would like to be involved in formulating representative policy on behalf of IED Members or have policy papers that you would like to make available please let us know by emailing policy@ied.co.uk

Please note that due to the volume and range of economic development disciplines in membership, IED policy statements and position papers are not necessarily the views of all our Members.
